Deltona city commission to decide on foreclosure assistance
Deltona’s City Commission will be deciding this evening if they will be able to assist Deltona homeowners facing foreclosure.
I spoke to Diane Tyler with the city’s housing and community development and the plan, if approved, will allow the City to contribute up to $7,500 one time assistance to those who are facing foreclosure. According to Diane if the measure is approved this evening the process should begin on Thursday. She did state that the assistance will be given to first come, first to deliver an application. The application is lengthy but according to Diane it is self-explanatory and should be easy to complete.
Any assistance offered will be based on the homeowners ability to pay their mortgage once they are caught up. I asked if those homeowners who fell behind due to their payments increasing because of having an interest only or adjustable mortgage would qualify and the answer is no. The ability to maintain their mortgage payment is a key requirement.
The commission will be meeting this evening at 6:30 in Deltona at 2345 Providence Blvd.
